*1874 in Wiesbaden; † 1907 (1) Was a German entrepreneur, trader and plantation owner in German East Africa (1) As son of colonial politician and plantation entrepreneur, he came to German East Africa and established his own company (1) His brother Adalbert Perrot was a collector too. His father Karl Perrot established in the 1890s the East African Sea Trade Karl Perrot und Co. (Ostafrikanische Seehandlung Karl Perrot und Co.) to export cotton wool to Germany. (1) Remarkable discoveries of ruins on the islands Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Mnara. The majority of the Kilwa-collection stems from him. (1) 1892: After his formation as a trader in Germany, his father sent him to East Africa to lead the Tanga-Faktorei (on the Northern coast of Tanzania) (1) 1895: Followed his father to the Southern shore near the port town of Lindi, where he established cotton and coffee plantations. Later he became director of the East African Society (Ostafrikanische Gesellschaft) (1) Apart from his activities as a planter, trader and entrepreneur, he also undertook scientific travels with an interest in natural sciences and got through those travels to the Kilwa island (1) His passion for collecting took him also to other regions of East Africa.
