The kataginu is a double-breasted waist mantle, without sleeves, very broad in the upper part. It was worn with the hakama trousers as the asa-kamishimo formal suit of the Edo period (1600-1868) samurai. This mantle is of blue color, with black silk lining, with three crests (two are in the front, one in the dorsal part). The crests are white katabami leaves (Oxalis corniculata) in a circle.
