Annotation
A bird's eye view of the shrine and the city of Nagasaki. The shrine is somewhat set apart, sitting on a platform of piled up stones behind a wooden fence in the background on the righthand side of the scene. Stone stairs lead up to the shrine. In front of the shrine we see its torii gate. In the distance we see mountain peaks and a grey sky. In the foreground are two city streets. One leads to the shrine (the second torii gate is on this street). The other extends vertically straight down. Both streets are lined with booths and passers-bye. Some ride horses. Some are laborers carrying big bundles or nagamochi chests.
