The spring landscape depicted in this painting with the cherry blossoms for which it is famous. This painting depicts one such scene, apparently on the banks of the Hozugawa River near the Togetsukyo bridge; alongside many people are viewing sakura blossom (hanami picnics). The mounting is in the yamato-hyogu style, using the nishikiori brocade with the woven ornament – karakusa (“Chinese grass”) with peonies and birds.
