Annotation
During a storm hunters would tie several kayaks together to give them greater stability and attach floats to their sides. They did this in order not to damage the skin sheathing of the kayaks while they were being tossed about by the waves and could run into one another. If the skin covering was ripped they would place blown-up floats under the kayak or attach them to the sides of the boat.
