Annotation
Baskets were used for gathering foodstuffs, as household utensils, and also for preparing food. They filled a basket with water and placed meat and red-hot rocks inside. The twigs of the basket would swell up, but the water would not leak out of it. They would replace the rocks that got cold with hot ones. In this way they would bring the water to a boil and cook the meat.
