Traditional shape of Irani helmet is a semi-sphere with mail net fixed to it. Production of helmets as well as other parts of protecting plate armour was terminated in Iran by the end of the 19th century. Craftsmen produced mainly ceremonial samples, some helmets were made as nebs of mythical animals and decorated with Arabic script and floral ornament.
