Annotation
The Giant Nicolas Bourgeois, 227 cm high, was invited to Russia by Peter I during his trip to France in 1717. Sturdy and reliable, Bourgeois served as Peter's footman for seven years. He died in Petersburg of heart attack and his body was dissected. The giant's skeleton and heart are still owned by the Kunstkamera. His portrait, painted by G. Gsell, has also been preserved
