Annotation
The collector described this throwing board as follows: “They throw spears with either the right or the left hand with narrow boards which they hold with the forefinger on one side and the three smaller fingers on the other, for which purpose they have drilled holes. They hold the spears on the feathered end in a small slot carved out along the center of the board and throw them directly from the shoulder” (Lisianskii 1947: 186)
