Annotation
Manual rotating device is installed into the foundation of the sphere. Rings representing equinoctial and solstitial colures, ecliptic and celestial equator compose the base of the sphere structure. Axis of rotation is vertical and goes through the poles of ecliptic. Gilded model of the Sun is on the axis. Models of the Earth, the Moon and 5 planets rotate around the model of the Sun. A map is engraved on the model of the Earth. "Inventé/Par Passemant/Ingénieur du Roi/au Louvre/A PARIS/Executé en 1769" is engraved on the upper plate of the base.
