This bowl was carved to look like a merganser duck. The head of this bird has a crest, and the end of its beak has a toothed form that enables it to easily hold a fish that it has caught. This bowl is decorated with an “eye ornament” which is characteristic of the Tlingit culture and that of other Indians from the Northwest Coast of North America.
