Annotation
The drawing on the front part of the hat depicts, most likely, the head of a beaver with its characteristically large front incisors in a half-open mouth. On the other side of the hat is an anthropomorphic mask that represents his spirit. It was believed that the spirits of animals were human in appearance. Analogous representations of animals with half-open mouths can be found on hats No. 593—34, 2520—27 and 5795—22.
