Annotation
A shield was common in the history of Irani peoples since the earliest times and could have different shapes: quadrate, square, ellipsoidal. At the same time shields of circular form gained widespread currency. Shields were produced of wood and different metals. Wooden frame was covered with leather, mainly of black colour, on which numerous details were fixed. Number of such details was different, but in Afghani culture it was 13.
